After graduating from the French Pastry School, Janel spent time learning at the three Michelin Star restaurant, Grace, in Chicago and at Patisserie 46 in Minneapolis. She then moved to Yountville, California to work for Thomas Keller at Bouchon Bakery and Bouchon Bistro. She combined the knowledge gained from these incredible opportunities with her background as an acupuncturist and yoga instructor to create J. Kumari Chocolate in her hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
J. Kumari Chocolate focuses on creating modern, sophisticated bon bons and chocolate bars using traditional French technique, with attention toward the elemental and transforming nature of chocolate itself. We source only the finest, organically farmed chocolate directly from France, and use local, sustainable and organic ingredients as much as possible. Our packaging is made from recycled, FSC certified materials and printed locally in Minneapolis.
